Satellite Programs through Mountain Plains Distance Learning Network (MPDLN)

    MPDLN is a compressed digital satellite network.  Members of the Network are member constituents of MPHC.  It provides live education via satellite for health care providers.  TV for watching satellite broadcasts
     This education, tailored to rural audiences, is designed in response to members' needs.  It is targeted to multiple health care disciplines and mandatory requirements. The physical network is managed by MTI Telecom Systems, Mitchell, S.D., which is the satellite uplink site. A minimum of four hours of continuing education per week is available, and members may interact with the faculty through an 800 number. Video-taping for in-house use is encouraged. 

     A Masters' of Science in Administrative Studies (MSAS) graduate degree is available from the University of South Dakota through the MPDLN.  For information on this program check out the MSAS web site - www.usd.edu/msas  or e-mail the program  - msas@usd.edu

Workshops and Seminars

Textbooks for Workshops Experienced trainers lecture in person. Workshops and seminars are designed to meet the high priority and mutual needs of MPHC members. They are based on needs identified by staff development directors/

education coordinators.  Programs are presented throughout the consortium region for access by all members.

    MPHC offers Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for all programs.  Accreditation is through professional accrediting bodies for some programs.

Video Library

MPHC currently has more than 250 videotapes which can be checked out for up to three weeks by library members.   Library membership is optional. Film & Videos

EMS

EMS Cross Emergency Medical Services primary and continuing education is provided cooperatively by the Indian Health Service, the Department of Veterans' Affairs Cooperative Health Education Program and the Health Education Development System, Inc.
