Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Intended Audience:
Emergency personnel in intensive care or critical care departments and emergency medical providers.
Prerequisites:
Training and/or education in basic cardiac rhythm analysis (ECG interpretation.)
Professional-level Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR/AED) required or included in
ACLS course.
Class Hours:
Initial Course: 16 Hours
Renewal Course: 8 Hours (for healthcare providers with strong background in cardiac rhythms and medications who practice ACLS on a regular basis.)
Completion Requirements:
Written Exam: Required (82% or better.)
Performance Evaluation: Working as a group leader in a team setting, competently direct initial emergency care for respiratory/cardiac arrest, and management of the patient with a pulse.
Certification Period:
Up to 2 years. Recommended annually.
