Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Intended Audience:
ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units..
Prerequisites:
Training and/or education in basic cardiac rhythm analysis (ECG interpretation.)
Professional-level Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR/AED) required or included in
ACLS course.
Class Hours:
Initial Course: 12-16 Hours
Renewal Course: 6-8 Hours (for healthcare providers with strong background in cardiac rhythms and medications who practice ACLS on a regular basis.)
Completion Requirements:
Written Exam: Required
Performance Evaluation: Demonstration of skills competency in all learning stations and passing the CPR and AED skills test, bag-mask ventilation skills test, and a Megacode test
Certification Period:
Up to 2 years. Recommended annually.
